Anyway, I joined and often lurks around silently in the group waiting for them to reveal some secret freshwater spots.
On early morning when I just woke up prepping to go first light fishing, I saw their conversation from the previous night.
Someone is bringing a few others to his regular fishing spot.
I quickly called that chap and asked if I could join them.
He welcomed me and gave the meetup address.
Made my way there quickly and introduced ourselves.
A total of 5 anglers including myself.
There's also an irritating, dua kang (big hole) kid in his teens. Really cannot stand that kid...
Went to the spot and spotted a group of juvenile snakeheads (aka toman).
Juvenile tomans will have horizontal stripes on it's body.
When they reach this size, their parent/s would have left them but they will still remain with their 'siblings' and hunt. Very rarely the parent/s will remain protecting them at this late stage.
Giant Snakehead (aka Toman) at juvenile stage |
I hookup one and quickly released it.
Changed to a much bigger lure and started casting towards the group of juveniles.
Big lure = Big hooks
Big hooks to ensure that the juveniles will not hook themselves even if they attacked my lure.
Wanted to try and see if the there's any adult toman guarding them or not, although chances are not high.
True enough, their parents have long left them.
After some time, we left that place.
I rarely spoke to the others.
My true agenda is not to socialise or make new friends.
I just wanted to know the location of that spot..... hehe.....
Still prefers fishing alone or with a close friend.
Before leaving, this big guy name ZH came up to me and we chatted.
He seemed like a decent mature girlfriend-fearing chap. lol
Suggested that we fish together the following Sunday at first light.
Since our weekly fishing time and duration matches, I agreed.
Went back home tired after the super long trek and long drive...
