Roxy Yet Again

Out of the blue, Rong wants to come out to fish this morning.
Shawn had to be a stay home dad today.

Was actually planning on going to Spot Mars alone to catch some Giant Snakeheads.

Since Rong has not much luck at Mars ever since I started bringing him there, we decided to go Spot Roxy.

First cast got me something:

There were many missed strikes throughout the session.

There was even once when I managed to hook up a good sized bull in bright spawning colors.

Reeled it in after some tough fight but lost it when it leaped out of the water right in front of me.

Rong had a strong take as well but his line snapped early into the fight...

Chatted for a while outside before heading home after this short session.

Everyone seem to think that Ken has really lost it this time with his greyed out hair...  lol

YOLO

Suddenly went into Yolo mood and decided to bleach my hair grey.

When I was much younger, hair colorings were the 'in' thing back then.

I have dyed all sorts of colors to my hair before.
Even bleached it also.

Red, pink, blue, purple, brown, gold, white...

But never grey.

That was when I sport much longer hair.
That was when I was in my teens.

'One length' was all the craze back then...

Anyway, I told a harmless lie to Ling this morning, saying that I'm going for work.

Truth is, I went to the hair salon downstairs.
Appointment has already been booked days ago.   hehehe

Went in, sat down, told the hairstylist I wanted to bleach my whole head grey.

She gave me the stunned look.   lol

Being professional and all, she inspected my hair and told me that my hair is so soft and fine.
Bleaching will ruin it and also, fine hair has increased risk of suffering breakages after the deed is done.

I told her not to worry as I have done it before.

She suggested not bleaching the 'slopes' of my hair as they are too short and light color such as grey will make me look bald at the sides instead.

Proceeded with the bleaching process which took 6 cycles to get the black fully off my hair.

Each bleaching cycle took 20 minutes of torture.

The bleaching agent will actually burn the scalp while it eats away the black in my hair.
Just look at my sore scalp from the photos below.

A 2nd degree chemical burn is inevitable if one were to do a full hair bleach down to the roots.
Think acid.

This is how my hair looks like after the bleaching process:

After the bleaching was done, the whole salon (3 stylists, 1 shampoo girl) was amazed that I pulled it through.

The shampoo girl is also into bleaching hair but she gave up after 3 cycles.
Pain was too much for her to take.

Due to this, her color eventually turned out to be darker than what she initially desired.

2 of them even whipped out their handphones and took photos of my hair just stripped of it's natural color.

One of them offered to help me take photographs as well.
How professional...   lol

Amid the cheers and excitement, deep down inside me I knew that the worst has yet to come.
I've done it before and still remembered.

With my raw hair and severely sore scalp, the grey dye was applied liberally to the bleached hair.

This is the worst part.
Much worse than the bleaching process.

The grey chemical burning and corroding my exposed scalp with most of it's top most layer of skin gone.
It's like setting fire to my head.

Despite the pain, it actually brings back memories when I first bleached my hair more almost 2 decades ago.

Just imagine having a bad fall with a badly scratched knee where most of the skin has been scrapped away leaving it raw.

Next, apply a generous amount of salt on it.

You should experience an extremely stinging hot sensation.

Now, multiply that amount of pain by about 10, stretch it for 30 minutes.

Pain is pretty close to what I experienced this morning on my entire head.

No exaggeration here.

After 30 minutes of fist clenching and teeth grinding with my head in a cling wrap, the shampoo girl washed my hair clean and this is how it turned out:

I had initially wanted a slightly darker shade of grey.
More to an ash grey kind of color.

But this turned out even nicer!
Almost white kind of grey.

At least in my own opinion.  lol

Finished up with a hair treatment as part of the package and left for home.

When I got home and opened the main door, my Boy started his routine welcoming ritual.

Whining, barking, tail wagging, hopping around.

But when Boy lifted his head and saw my hair, he froze for a split second...

Hilarious...    lololol

Although he still behaves and maintained his usual playful self, Boy has been avoiding direct eye contact with me the entire evening.

I must look like a freak or some kind of alien being.   lol

Ling kept asking me for the real reason behind this stunt.

There's actually no hidden agenda or whatsoever.

I just feel like doing it, even though it may be unacceptable and heidous to some.

My family are already used to the crazy stuff I do to myself in the past.

Can't help wondering how Ling's mom and relatives will take this...?

Especially when her maternal side consists of many school teachers...

Although irresponsible and childish of me, I don't really care about others' opinions and is happy with my new hair color.

Look totally like an Ah Beng now.

As long as I don't behave like one, it's pretty much ok.
I think...

Hope this latest stunt of mine doesn't put Ling into embarrassing situations...

You know how those senior relatives like to gossip/compare who and whose husbands and/or boyfriends.

Next up will be to grow my hair slightly longer and trim a layered haircut before bleaching it to the same color again for my upcoming pre-wedding photoshoot.

Although it's still months ahead, I'll maintain this look until then.

This means repeated dyeing when the color fades.
Or yet another bleaching session when the black roots grow out to about an inch or so.

Meanwhile, over the next few days, many pea sized scabs will form on my scalp, slowly drying up and falling off.

Been there, done that...

Ling will go crazy... lol

D-day Minus 370

Been busy with work lately (no surprise) and neglected this blog of mine.

Preparation for me and Ling's marriage is starting as well.

Gotten dates from a metaphysics expert.
Booked and paid deposits for venue, gowns, makeup artist.
Bridal car also settled.

Although I must credit Ling for most of the work done...
I know nuts about those things.

Ang Kong Kong!

According to the 'Expert', next year is going to be very bad for me.
Severely 犯太岁, so to speak...

This narrowed the dates to only a small selection.

I don't really believe in this kind of stuff.
But if it makes her happy, I'll just follow.

This is one of my personality which pisses her off the most.
Not being superstitious and rebelling against tradition.

I'm an atheist.
Can't help it.

Anyway, wedding date is fixed and only 4 of my close friends know about it.

All are happy for me and unanimously agreed that it's long overdue...

One of them even praised Ling saying that she must be a very 'powerful' woman to be able to coerce me into marriage!
lol

And so, though hard to believe, the countdown to the end of my bachelorhood begins...

PJ's Wedding

Attended PJ's wedding last weekend at Goodwood Park hotel.

PJ is a cousin of Ling's.
Many many cousins she has...

Was working till very late the night before.
Went back home and slept for 2 hours before sending Ling to PJ's place in the early morning before dawn since she was tasked to be one of the bridesmaids.

Went back home to bed..

Just before the banquet starts, Ling was so impatient that she kept sending me messages asking me where I am.

Was so pekchek about the heavy traffic, packed carpark and her lorsohing that I decided to prank her.

Lied to her on the phone that I mistakenly went to Park Hotel at Clarke Quay instead, when I was actually climbing the stairs to the banquet room.
lol

For a moment, I could sense real anger boiling up on her end.
hahahahahaaa...

Then she saw me.

Busted...

Her family is HUGE lor, with countless aunties and cousins.
A bit daunting...

Being a quiet and unsociable person, I kept to myself most of the event and stayed under the radar.
No one seemed to notice me being there.

Something which I'm pretty good at.
lol

#######################################

Was planning to collect the full set of Legos from Shell before gifting it to little Colin who is a major car lover:

Up to date, only 2 released.

Ling insisted giving them to Colin first.

I relented.

On the same night, Kiki and Colin were fighting over the Legos crying like there's no tomorrow.
lol

Siblings rivalry...

iPhone 6 Plus

Was lucky enough to secure a set of 128GB model in grey color on the first day of pre-order.

Even though I paid upfront while pre-ordering, still had to wait 2 hours during collection at Paragon.

This time round, the fun part of the new iPhone's launch was actually on forums and facebook as well as some other social medias.

Android users mocking iPhone users on the outdated functions and specs.
People over-reacting when they failed to secure a launch day unit.

Hilarious.   lol

Lurefisher T-Shirts

After so many years, Lurefisher, a Facebook based fishing group, has finally came up with it's very own t-shirt.

Seems like every group has to have their own tee nowadays.   lol

Shawn gave me the blue one which cost RM50 and came with 2 stickers per tee.

The black one was supposed to be only issued for the group's admins only but founder of the group was kind enough to gift it to me even though I'm just an ordinary member and rarely posts anything at all.

Many thanks to buddy Shawn and Boss Tan Ming for the gifts!
Much appreciated...

Impromptu Catching-Up

What supposed to be a hastily arranged night of chit-chat and catching up with Shawn and Rong turned into an action packed session.

Brought Ling along as well.

The pond was surprisingly empty on a Friday night.

Shawn alone landed 3 fishes while I lost a small one.

Just look at the size of this well-fed Tilapia!

Shawn's second trophy for the night:
A decent sized Redtail Catfish.

His first catch was a stubborn Chao Praya Catfish which took a good 7 minutes tug-o-war.

Even though Rong and I have not landed anything at all, it was a superb night with laughs and gossips aplenty.    lol
