Marvelicious Sunday

Last night slept at near 2am while Ling watched her tigers and dolphin movie on her iPhone's Funshion.
Early morning wakey at 4.30am to go fishing.

Reached home dog tired at about 10.30am.
Washed my reel, rod, lures, boga, pliers and oakley then showered myself.

Made breakfast for Ling.
One of her favorites: black coffee and bread with nutella.

After a while, we left for her place.
Ling suggested cooking today and so, we went to NTUC opposite her place.

I saw chunks of raw toman (aka giant snakehead) meat in the refrigerator section.
It's like $4+ for roughly 250grams.

Those monster 10kg tomans in our local reservoir will translate to SGD 160+ per fish!!
WTH?! Didn't knew these buggers cost so much!

No wonder Ah Tiongs, Bangalas and Siam Kia like to net and bait for them risking their own safety by swimming to spread long nets in our local freshwater.

Anyway, I have never truly tasted a toman before except for those in hawker's fish vermicelli.
All those that I have caught, I released after landing and photo raping them regardless of juvenile or monster size.

Grabbed a chunk of toman toman meat, 2 chicken drumsticks, luncheon meat, potatoes, onions and eggs.

Knowing that these are actually farmed giant snakeheads make me feel less guilty eating them.

Ling prepared and cooked everything.

Lunch
Dinner
Look at the greedy girl!
Boiled Potatoes
Pepper devouring her special

The fish was nice!
She happycalled it with teriyaki sauce.

Ling knowing that I'm uber tired due to the fact that I have only slept for less than 3hrs yesterday then woke up to go fishing, she commanded me not to wash the dishes but to leave them for her.

After dinner, we brought Pepper down for a short walk.

Children were playing with lanterns under then watchful eyes of their parents.
歌台 opposite Ling's estate.

Feeling super high due to lack of sleep...
What a day...

Ukulele

Ling says she wants to learn Ukulele for some time...
It's like a mini guitar with 4 strings instead of 6.

Wanted to surprise her with one but she seems uncertain...
Also, what if I got one which she didn't like? eg. colors and shape.

After the meetup with Wanyu and Janice after our Hard Rock stay, she wanted to go see an ukulele shop.

We went, we looked, she likes,
and I bought it for her...

Learned the guitar while in prison.
Bought myself an electric one upon release.

Had fun with it playing alone in my room mostly.
Until an accident at work which got my left hand's fingertip sliced off.
Unable to play for months...

Sold my Fender Stratocaster and Marshall amp to another deserving guitarist.

That was many years ago...

Now... the Ukulele...

Ling says it sounds cheerful and wants to learn and play for me.

The chords are different from guitar's, the frets are smaller and it's rather difficult to hold the small instrument.

Nonetheless, I think I will have less difficulty learning it compared to Ling.

We shall see...

Sun, Sand & Sea

I like the sea...
The waves...
The mystery it holds at it's depth...
Large fishes, small fishes, corals, half decomposed corpses etc etc...

Ling had a wakeboarding session with her cousin (Janice) yesterday.

I woke the sleepy Ling at 5.30am and went to fetch Janice.

After they boarded the boat, I hanged around Marina Country Club.

Firstly, the fishing pond...
Began as a swimming pool for kids then modified into a super mini sized fishing pond.
Or should I say pathetic?

I was there for the first hour, watching some hopeful anglers casting again and again towards the holding net area. All of the paid fishing ponds I'd been to, the 'hotspots' are always around the holding net.

All were using ultra-light spinning gears with lines not exceeding 12lbs.
Anyway, none caught anything during my hour's worth of observation.
No baits were even stolen.

This reaffirmed my dislike for such paid fishing ponds.
I'll stick to my illegal but free freshwater luring.
That's where the real wild monsters are.

Saw a few familiar fishing boats at the berth thinking that it has been quite a long while since I last went offshore...

Lunched at Hougang and off we go to East Coast Park.

Kann, Kiki, Colin, Maricar.
Ling & Joe.
Me.

The last time I took a shoreline walk was with Ling at Labrador Park.

This time is different:
Our hands are locked in each others'.

Followed Kiki around in her little pink Mini Cooper.
Initially, she seems to have trouble correcting the car's steering.
After some time, she got better.
Ice cream treat for her.

As I look out onto the beach where Ling and Colin are, I see happiness.
I felt an unknown bliss...

Saw a nearby breakwater and wanted to walk to it's top and look out into the far distance.
But I resisted...
It will make me think of Billy...
Not this day... This is a day of happiness.

Ling's amazed by my polarised oakley.
Everthing seemed so clear under the glaring sun.

Ling's unlike most other women.
She is not pretentious.
She's not afraid of the sun or getting tanned.
Most women out there thinks they're white/fair and take great pains to maintain that.
But actually, most are in an unhealthy yellow.

Anyway, I felt calm and relaxed walking side by side with her following Kiki's motorised toy car.

Caught Kiki peeping at me many times.

I'm not really a 'children's person'.
Kids cry or hide behind their parents when they see me.
I see fear in their eyes when they look at me.

Not Kiki...
What I see are curiosity and shyness rolled into one.

Until the point when she got cranky again...

We went to Kann's place and relaxed for awhile.

Ling & me headed off to 112 Katong.
Kann and Kiki joined us shortly after.
We watched 'Madagascar 3'.
Kann's treat.

Ya, I know... It's a cartoon... Quit your laughing, Pearl...
Many 'firsts' ever since I'm with Ling...

After the funny cartoon, Kann's got something urgent cropped up and left.
Ling & me plus little Kiki went to Katong Mall to buy some toothpaste for kids.
While on the way, Ling patiently explained to me on why kids these days need special toothpastes.

She left me and Kiki alone in Joe and walked in to buy them.

This is where the funny part starts...
Every question I made, I paused for a short while, giving Kiki time to absorb.
After awhile of silence in Joe:

Me: (putting on serious face) Now that there's no one else, let's talk.
Kiki: (silence)
Me: Ok?
Kiki: (nods head)
Me: Is Yiyi (Ling) pretty?
Kiki: Yes.
Me: Is Mommy (Kann) pretty?
Kiki: Yes.
Me: Uncle Ken handsome or not?
Kiki: Yes.
Me: I know you like me right?
Kiki: (silence)
Me: You like Uncle Ken?
Kiki: (looks away) Yes.
Me: Don't be shy lar. We are both adults. Let's be honest.
Kiki: ......
Me: (leans over nearer) Next time you want to look at my handsome face, just tell me straight. Don't bio until like that. Uncle Ken is used to pretty girls looking at me all the time. Ok or not?
Kiki: (looks at me and nods head)
Me: Yiyi coming back anytime now. We shall stop here and continue next time.
Kiki: (gives wanna cry face)
Me: !!! Oui!! Don't cry lei!! Later Yiyi thinks I bully you then jialat liao!
Me: (quickly whips out my phone and starts showing her random pics)

She got engrossed with the pics and resumes 'normal' face.
Heng ar...
I put away my phone and true enough, Ling came back.
Phew...

Tears are indeed women's best weapon...
Sent Kiki back home and this is the end of the whole episode...

Kann took a very nice pic of us at East Coast Park.
She didn't realised tagging Ling on facebook will expose me to Ling's entire friend community.
Turned out to be a false alarm...

Should I be relieved or disappointed?

Nah......

The Magic Pan

Happy Call...
What a lame name for a cooking pan...

For some time now, Ling's been raving to me how this pan can miraculously turn anyone into skilled chefs...
How it can make cakes, bak kwa (are you serious?!) and every other dishes known to mankind.

I must confess that I'm skeptical at first despite all those tv ads and countless recipe blogs on the www.

Not anymore... I hereby stand corrected.
It is indeed a savior for those chef wannabes.

That thing can really cook!
Most importantly, it will not leave the kitchen in an oily aftermath.
Much easier to wash up too compared to a conventional pan.

Ling bought us 2 last Saturday.
1 for our home, the other one for her place.

She bought capsicums, pork, idunnowat beans, shitake and some seasonings.

I had onions, ginger, eggs and some sauces at home.

It's the first time she tried to cook for me.
Read: Tried.

Ended up we cooked together.
First time i 'shaved' a ginger...

I washed and cooked the rice while she handles the capsicums.

Ling can really beat eggs at astonishing speed!
Surprised by this feat from someone who had never cooked a proper meal before...

Onion Omelette
Dunnowat dish consisting oc capsicums, mushrooms, pork, dunnowatucallit beans
The Whole Deal
I must admit... they taste great!
Except for some minor flaws...
Undercooked rice, overcooked pork, slightly charred luncheon meat cleverly hidden from the camera in the pic above...

Nothing ends the day as perfect as a glass of ice cold gin tonic

Many laughter and silly jibes were exchanged during the process.

Happy Call has indeed provided us with a delicious dinner and cheerful evening.

It really does live up to it's name...

Sunday night... a night at Ling's place...
We made popcorn with it!

Snacked at it while watching Jeremy Wade getting his line wet somewhere in India on his endless quest for the ultimate river monster...

Next thing I need is a magic pot which can boil delicious soup at a snap of my finger...
Ling loves soup...

Shop Till I Dropped...

Spent last night at Ling's place...
We have discussed and agreed to spending alternate nights between our homes which are within walking distance from each other.

My last 18 hours were tiring...

Ironed and folded Ling's mountain of washed clothes from morning till afternoon while Ling went for her appointment...
After I'm done with her clothes, I walked home and showered my Boy...
After I'm done with Boy, I showered myself and went shopping with Ling...

Yes, you heard me right...

世傑 went shopping with his girlfriend.
Twice!

Those who know me well enough will never thought that this day will come...
There goes my reputation and dignity...

First time was at Orchard many days ago.
Went to a few malls, walked for miles...
Got irritated towards the end and flared abit at Ling in the car while going home...
Nothing serious... We made up very soon later...

I hate shopping...

The endless walking, the crowd, the noise...
A shopping 傑哥 is an angry 傑哥...

Today is the second time I went shopping with Ling.
Almost lost it in the end but held on.
Ling sensed my frustration and gave in to my unreasonable attitude...
Phew..... Catastrophe narrowly averted thanks to Ling's understanding...

I'm getting better!
A few more shopping therapy sessions like this and I'll be cured!
Or maybe I'll end up spending my remaining days at Woodbridge in a strait jacket...

But...
How on earth does a woman so petite has the energy and patience in her to browse almost every shop in Bugis Village??

Anyway, after she's finally done and satisfied at the uber crowded Bugis Village, we migrated to Bugis Junction...
Repeat Process...

But again,
How on earth does a woman so petite has the energy and patience in her to browse almost every shop in Bugis Village and continue doing it at Bugis Junction straight after?????

And after such a long and tedious ordeal, ONLY 2 pieces were netted by her!

Faint...

We went to BHG and saw a grey pair of Converse that caught her eyes during our last shopping session at Orchard.
20% discount somemore...
Bad news: They ran out of size 5...

Ling bo pian and had to settle for white color instead of the grey one she initially saw.
I bought a black one for myself and in addition, grabbed a pair of flip-flops too.

Finally! My turn to buy something!

We went to the pre-war estate near my place for some porridge before coming back.
She's been eating alot lately...

As at the time of this posting (4am!!), the exhausted shopping monster spreads herself comfortably on our queen sized bed sleeping like a log, barely leaving any space for me while i suffer from insomnia resulting from post-shopping trauma...

Pub & Supper

Yesterday night was a good one...

While having dinner at my place last night, I casually asked Ling whether she feels tired or not.
She replied 'no'.

I suggested going for a drink.
She replied 'ok'.

After our shower, we went to this pub that I used to frequent.
I'm a pub person.

Upon arrival, they couldn't find my balance brandy...

Last time I went, it was about a month ago when I finished the first bottle, opened a second one, with about 3 quarters balance.

We're given complimentary drinks until the lady boss (Joey) arrive.
Ling and I talked about some unpleasant things.
Things which are better off forgotten and erased...

Note to self: Never again shall we remind each other of the unpleasant past anymore.

Anyway, Joey eventually came and together with the waiteress, searched high and low for my missing martell.

Conclusion: they gave my booze to someone named 'Ken i don't know what surname'. Previous time I went, Joey was not around and she didn't know that I have a bottle there.

She gave me a replacement bottle.
She served us freshly popped popcorn.

First time I heard Ling sang.
Ling seemed happy.

We played 'bluff'.
This is one game which I'm quite proficient at and also one which I enjoy alot.
Basically, you need abit of guts, some mind reading, planning ahead and be a good actor to win.
First couple of rounds were spent finding out what category of player Ling is.
Subsequently, I won pretty much everything...

She got amazed when someone at the table behind us looks alot like an 'older version' of her cousin BingLun.

Chatted for awhile then off we go to Lau Pa Sat for abit of munchies.
Joey promised not to misplace my bottle this time round... keeping my fingers crossed...

While at Lau Pa Sat, she's reminded of her days at Canon, debated on Hepatitis B, rising number of SMEs, argued on the original location of satay club, commented on Wendy's food, etc etc etc.

Ling is the first I allowed to use my handkerchief.

Drank, played, sang, ate, chatted and went home a happy and loving couple... :)

对的时间,对的人...

Past ones are not worth mentioning...

Maybe except for 许诗佩...
Liked her alot, knows me alot.
Memories...

错的时间, 对的人??

But that's all in the past...

Ling... hung out with her in my early teens for a short period of time.
Nothing romantic, strictly platonic.
She's like a buddy back then.
Arcades, daytona, places...

Suddenly stopped hanging out.
Nothing unpleasant happened....
Just... stopped...

On and off, I heard things about her, she heard things about me...

18 years later, we meet again.
Alot had happened in both of our lifes...

She went through a rough patch just before she met me again months ago...

Anyway, things worked itself out despite some hiccups...
Shallow, self-centered ex (yes, it's Florence) trying to create misunderstanding, sowing discord between me and Ling.
Telling me untrue stuff... denying everything and lying through her teeth when being exposed...

No wonder she's afraid that I will get together with Ling... because if Ling and I were to share with each other on what she told me, her lies will fall through and her true colors will be shown...

Don't know her agenda... don't care too...

After so many years, I see the real side of Florence...
Or maybe she changed over the years?
And to think I almost married her 13 years ago! Sibei heng ar...
Go fuck off... Shoo! From now on, I don't owe you anything...
If anything, Julia is the one I owe, not you.

Big surprise for all others who know us.
Mainly ex-schoolmates...

We were in the same primary school, same secondary school, living close to each other all this while, shared some common friends...

It's like we were so 'near' each other all this while but somehow, not meant to start. 18 years later...

对的时间,对的人...
